Open fires banned April 1st, 2020 - Black Creek/Oyster Bay

Open fires with the exception of a campfire which is defined as a fire less than 50 cm used for heat, cooking or recreational purposes using firewood will be banned in the Black Creek / Oyster Bay Fire Protection Area (southern portion of Electoral Area D) April 1, 2020.

South of Campbell River to Oyster Bay, from the Strait of Georgia to Buttle Lake

Strathcona Regional District (SRD) Electoral Area D covers just under 1,850 square kilometres. The area runs from Jubilee Parkway to the Oyster River and east into the Strathcona Provincial Park.

Within this vibrant and beautiful area there is an abundance of recreational opportunities, ranging from swimming potholes, waterfall adventures and beautiful ocean beaches, to miles of mountain bike and hiking trails, wildlife viewing and water sports such as kayaking, boating and fishing.

The region is home to eight parks which are maintained by the SRD, and they provide something for everyone: community gardening, playgrounds, walking trails, open space, sporting fields, outdoor fitness equipment, tennis and basketball courts.  View all of the SRD Area D parks here:

 Campbell River, BC –  To help stop the spread of COVID-19, protect residents and encourage social distancing in our community the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) is taking additional precautionary measures by closing some of its parks until further notice and reminding residents to comply with social distancing.
