A Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP):
- defines wildfire threat risk areas within and adjacent to the community for interface fires; and
- identifies measures necessary to mitigate those risks i.e. tree removal, spacing, pruning.
A CWPP has two major components: reporting and maps. The reporting component details with the community, the goals of the plan, and assessed wildfire risks. The maps will outline the community, land ownership, hazards and treatment areas.
The SRD has CWPP’s for the following communities:
- Area D
- Campbell River
- Cortes Island
- Gold River
- Quadra Island
