If you are not in the area, please avoid visiting Sayward at this time.  Currently there are no critical infrastructure or residential homes impacted or at risk. Fire is believed to be human-caused.

BYLAW NO. 458 – QUADRA ISLAND ZONING BYLAW 1990, Amendment No. 138

Public Hearing to commence at: 7:00 p.m.

The subject area is legally described as Lot 2, District Lot 190, Quadra Island, Sayward District, Plan 36666 as shown on the map below. Bylaw No. 458, if adopted, would rezone the subject area from Rural Two (RU-2) to Country Residential Two (CR-2), to facilitate a two-lot residential subdivision on the parcel.

Copies of the proposed bylaws and related information are available for inspection by appointment at the Strathcona Regional District Customer Service Centre, located at #102 – 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, (excluding statutory holidays on April 15 and 18, 2022) from April 13, 2022 until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.

The public hearing will be held by a delegation of Electoral Area directors representing the SRD Board. The public may participate either in-person, virtually via https://srd.ca/meetnow or by telephone via the teleconference number and conference ID provided above. Anyone who believes their interests are affected by the proposed bylaw will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing either as an in-person speaker, virtual speaker or call-in speaker during the comments portion of the hearing.

Written submissions from persons who are attending the hearing virtually or are unable to attend in person must be delivered by hand or electronically to the Regional District office no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 in order to be considered as part of the public hearing record. The SRD cannot consider any representations made after the close of the public hearing.
