After the school district closed Maple School, the Regional District purchased the property and had the school deconstructed in 2005. The land will be maintained as a grass playing field until a development plan is completed. Maple Park is also home to the SRD’s first community garden which opened in June 2015. Since then, the garden has been expanded has been well used with all beds being used by local community members.
