Rural area residents are responsible for setting up their own curbside pick-up through private providers, or taking their garbage and recyclables to a Comox Strathcona Waste Management facility.

CSWM NEWS  (Jan 9, 2024) – 2024 Comox Valley Waste Management Centre Quarterly Late Opening

We are informing you of a necessary adjustment in the opening hours of the Comox Valley Waste Management Centre (CVWMC) starting 2024.

In order to meet the training requirements mandated by WorkSafeBC and other internal training standards, the existing operational hours of 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, seven days a week pose a challenge. The Comox Strathcona Waste Management (CSWM) Board recognizes the importance of staff safety and emergency preparedness and has approved taking proactive measures to address this issue.

To that end, the opening hours at the CVWMC will be adjusted four times in 2024, from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm on the following days:
• Wednesday, January 31, 2024
• Wednesday, May 15, 2024
• Wednesday, July 17, 2024
• Wednesday, October 16, 2024

The schedule has been strategically planned to minimize impact on partner municipalities and commercial customers, aligning with lower periods of facility traffic.

We understand the importance of the CVWMC in our community and the services it provides. The CSWM Board is committed to ensuring a smooth transition during these adjusted hours and appreciates your understanding and cooperation.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this adjustment, please reach out to the CSWM team at cswm@comoxvalleyrd.ca.
