NOTICE OF BOARD CONSIDERATION OF BYLAWS
Notice is hereby given under Sections 464(3) (that a public hearing is prohibited – Bylaws 580, 582, 583) and 467 (that a public hearing is waived – Bylaw 578) of the Local Government Act that the Strathcona Regional District will consider First, Second and Third Readings and Final Adoption of Bylaws 580, 582, 583, and 578 during a regular Board meeting commencing at 12:30pm on October 30, 2024 in the SRD Boardroom, 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River BC.
BYLAW NO. 580 – CAMPBELL RIVER AREA ZONING BYLAW, 1991, Amendment No. 77
Purpose of Bylaw 580: The bylaw, if adopted, would rezone the subject area from Country Residential Five (CR-5) to Residential Three (R-3) to facilitate subdivision of the land into two residential lots.
Subject Area of Bylaw 580: The subject area is land legally described as Lot 22, Block 2, Plan VIP12174, Comox Land District, & Blk 29 as shown on Map 1 below.

BYLAW NO. 582 – QUADRA ISLAND ZONING BYLAW, 1990, Amendment No. 149
Purpose of Bylaw 582: To rezone two adjoining parcels of land totalling 58.4 hectares from Community Land Stewardship One (CLS-1) to Rural One (RU-1) to facilitate the creation of a 10-lot strata subdivision over the parcels, with the balance of the land being held by a land conservancy.
Subject Area of Bylaw 582: District Lot 233 and Lot 1, District Lot 236, Quadra Island, Sayward District (Map 2).

BYLAW NO. 583 – CAMPBELL RIVER AREA ZONING BYLAW, 1991, Amendment No. 78
Purpose of Bylaw 583: To rezone a 0.36-hectare parcel of land from Residential Three (R-3) to Residential One A (R-1A) to facilitate a subdivision of the property in accordance with zoning.
Subject Area of Bylaw 583: Lot A (DD H92462) District Lot 85, Comox District, Plan 27048 (Map 3).

BYLAW NO. 578 – MENZIES BAY AREA ZONING BYLAW, 1996, Amendment No. 14
Purpose of Bylaw 578: To propose zoning bylaw amendments to regulate Short-Term Rentals (STRs) in Menzies Bay, Electoral Area A, in response to Bill 35, the Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act, 2023. The bylaw proposes allowing STRs in Residential One (R-1) and Residential Two (R-2) zones.
Subject Area of Bylaw 578: All lands zoned Residential One (R-1) or Residential Two (R-2) within the Menzies Bay Area Zoning Bylaw No 1794 as shown on Map 4 below.

Copies of the proposed bylaws and related information are available for inspection at the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) Customer Service Centre, located at 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, until 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024. The bylaws and associated staff reports may also be viewed on the SRD website at www.srd.ca. Anyone who believes their interests are affected by the proposed bylaw amendments have the opportunity to provide comment to the SRD Board, provided signed written submissions are delivered via post, by hand to the SRD Community Services Desk or electronically to planning@srd.ca no later than 12:00 noon on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024.
