Notice of Public Hearing – Bylaw No. 565 – Electoral Area D

BYLAW NO. 565 – CAMPBELL RIVER AREA ZONING BYLAW, 1991, Amendment No. 75

Location: OYSTER BAY RESORTS, 4357 Island Highway South, Campbell River BC.

Start time: 6:00 p.m.

Subject Area for Bylaw 565: All lands in Electoral Area D for which residential use is permitted.

Purpose of Bylaw 565: To propose zoning bylaw amendments to regulate Short-Term Rentals (STRs) in Electoral Area D in response to Bill 35, the Short-Term Rental Accommodations Act, 2023. The bylaw proposes allowing STRs in all zones for which residential use is permitted.

Copies of the proposed bylaw and related information are available for inspection at the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) Customer Service Centre, located at 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, from June 26, 2024 until 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, excluding the public holiday on July 1st.

The public hearing for Bylaw No. 565 will be chaired by the Director of Electoral Area D, representing the SRD Board. Anyone who believes their interests are affected by the proposed bylaw amendments will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing. Persons unable to attend the hearing can submit signed written submissions to form part of the public hearing record provided submissions are delivered via post, by hand to the SRD Community Services Desk or electronically to planning@srd.ca no later than 12:00 noon on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Submissions that do not meet the above requirements or are made after the close of the public hearings cannot be considered.
