SRD New Collective Agreement Reached
A three-year collective agreement has been reached with the Strathcona Gardens Union Employees.
Strathcona Regional District and Strathcona Gardens Union Employees Reach New Collective Agreement
(Campbell River, BC) – The Strathcona Regional District (SRD) and United Steelworkers Local 1-1937 (USW) are pleased to announce that a three-year collective agreement has been reached with the Strathcona Gardens Union Employees.
The collective agreement for non-exempt employees at Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex expired on December 31, 2023. After multiple rounds of respectful negotiations, a new agreement was reached.
The three-year agreement is retroactive to January 1, 2024 – December 31, 2026.
Key highlights include:
- Scheduled wage increases for all unionized employees: 4% year one, 3.5% year two, and 3% year three (including cost of living clause)
- Enhancements to premiums and healthcare benefits.
“Reaching this new collective agreement is a significant step forward for the Strathcona Regional District,” said Strathcona Gardens Commission Vice-Chair, John Rice. “This commitment provides important stability for both our dedicated staff and the community we serve enhancing the quality of recreation services at the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Complex.”
Shelley Siemens the Lead Negotiator for the United Steelworkers said “I am very thankful for the experience and the knowledge that our USW committee was able to bring to the table as that was instrumental in the achievements we were able to make. I would also like to thank the SRD Negotiating team for respectful rounds of bargaining, collectively we were able to build an agreement that we think everyone will be happy with at the end of the day.”
