Quadra Internet Speed Test Survey
The Connected Coast Project, in partnership with the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) and CityWest (a City of Prince Rupert owned corporation) are working to help improve internet speeds in your community. Proof of actual internet speeds is needed to be successful in advocating for better internet service and accessing grant funding for residential internet service improvements. The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is collecting real-world testing data to help the federal government identify where the need for internet improvements is greatest.
We are all aware at how important internet connectivity is to rural communities and especially during this pandemic, people have realized the need and how life-changing improved internet can be. To promote faster internet for your community, please take the CIRA’s internet speed test below and report your results back by no later than noon on Friday January 29th, 2021.
Survey results will be used to support grant applications.

What is Internet Speed? The speed of your internet connection plays an important role in determining how effective and enjoyable the internet experience is for you and your family. If you click a link on a web page and then have to wait a long amount of time for the new page to appear, or if a video you are watching stutters and stops, it can be frustrating. Internet speeds are typically defined in terms of megabits per second (Mbps) for downloading and uploading data: Upload speed. The speed at which data is traveling from you to the Internet. More information about internet performance can be found at https://crtc.gc.ca/eng/internet/performance.htm |
