SMOKE ADVISORY | SAYWARD AREA
This is in part due to the unstable air mass in this area.
There is an increase in smoke activity from the Newcastle Creek Fire. This is in part due to the unstable air mass in this area. The winds are blowing in a variety of directions which are causing the smoke to blow into Sayward Village and Valley at times. It is expected that the smoke will be heavy at times.
There is some increase in fire activity as the fire burns off the fuels within the containment area. The fire is still burning within its perimeters. It will continue to create variable amounts of smoke in different weather conditions. The risk to infrastructure and community remains low.
Smoke may cause mild irritation and discomfort but can result in a dry cough, sore throat and difficulty breathing. People with pre-existing health conditions, respiratory infections, older adults, pregnant women, children and infants are more likely to experience health effects from smoke exposure.
