SRD Excited to Welcome New Chief Financial Officer
We're happy to announce that Myriah Foort, formerly the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Finance for the City of Campbell River, will be joining the SRD.
Campbell River, BC – The Strathcona Regional District (SRD) is happy to announce that Myriah Foort, formerly the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Director of Finance for the City of Campbell River, will be joining the SRD as the new CFO on July 9, 2018.
“We are excited to announce that Myriah Foort will be joining the SRD team to lead our finance department. Myriah is a strong leader and an accomplished CPA. She will be bringing with her a wealth of experience working with local governments and adhering to accounting principles. Her recent work and leadership have helped the City of Campbell River receive two consecutive awards through the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Awards for the development of fiscal policies that provide community resiliency and stability,” says SRD CAO David Leitch. “We look forward to getting her onboard and up and running as we know she will be an excellent addition to our organization.”
Foort is described as a strategic planner with strong leadership skills. During her six years with the City of Campbell River, she was known for providing sound advice and delivering an innovative approach to both long-term planning and effective service delivery.
“I am looking forward to taking on my new role as Chief Financial Officer at the Strathcona Regional District, meeting my new team and determining the highest priorities for the finance department from employees and the Board. I enjoy building and improving systems to align with best practices and empowering my team to continually learn and grow their skill set,” says Myriah Foort, the successful candidate for the SRD CFO role. “I am keen to continue expanding my local government experience coming from the City of Campbell River, and look forward to the challenge and opportunity of starting at a new organization with a regional focus. I plan to hit the ground running preparing for the 2019 financial plan, and look forward to meeting my new colleagues.”
The Strathcona Regional District is a partnership of four electoral areas and five municipalities providing services to approximately 43,000 residents.
