Notice of Public Hearing – Bylaw No. 598 – CORTES ISLAND

BYLAW NO. 598 – CORTES ISLAND ZONING BYLAW, 2025

DATE OF HEARING: MONDAY, September 8th, 2025

Public Hearing to commence at:  5:00 p.m.

 

Bylaw 598 Subject Area: The subject area is legally described as Electoral Area B of the Strathcona Regional District, as shown on Map 1 below.

Purpose of Bylaw 598: The new bylaw, if adopted, would implement a new zoning bylaw for the Electoral Area, covering such topics as siting of buildings and structures, density permitted, and permitted uses of land. If adopted, the proposed bylaw will replace and repeal the existing Zoning Bylaw No. 2455.

A copy of the proposed bylaw and related information are available for inspection at the Strathcona Regional District (SRD) Customer Service Centre, located at 990 Cedar Street, Campbell River, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. The bylaw may also be viewed on the SRD website at srd.ca/cortes-zoning-bylaw-review.

The public hearing for Bylaw No. 598 will be chaired by the Director of Electoral Area B, representing the SRD Board. Anyone who believes their interests are affected by the proposed bylaw will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing. Persons unable to attend the hearing can submit signed written submissions to form part of the public hearing record provided submissions are delivered via post, by hand to the SRD Community Services Desk or electronically to planning@srd.ca no later than 12:00 noon on Monday, September 8th, 2025. Submissions that do not meet the above requirements or are made after the close of the public hearing cannot be considered.
